Principal's Message

Welcome to the Official Website of the Government Autonomous Ashtang Ayurved College, Indore, Madhya Pradesh.

Government Autonomous Ashtang Ayurved College, Indore, was established on 12-12-1972 by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare,Government of Madhya Pradesh to promote Ayurveda in the society. The college is situated at Lokmanya Nagar, Kesar Bagh Road, Indore. Our Institute has received Pt.Uddhav Das Mehta Vaidhya Shastri Ayurved Seva Samman Puruskar-2016,from Ministry of AYUSH, Govt. of Madhya Pradesh, for the excellence work done in the field of Ayurved.

We are running various courses of department of AYUSH in our institution.

  1. B.A.M.S. Five and half year regular degree course with 75 seats,
  2. Paramedical Courses
    • D. Pharma (Ayurved), Two year course with 50 seats.
    • Certificate in Panchkarma Technician, One year course with 50 seats.

This Institute is running two hospitals in Indore, one at Lokmanya Nagar Institute campus and another at Rau, Indore. In which our Clinical and Non-Clinical staff is doing well to provide supreme health care services to the society. This institute is going to start soon a new hundred bed hospital in Lokmanya Nagar Institute Campus.

In upcoming years we are planning to start The Post-Graduation courses in various departments of Ayurveda.

We have very dedicated, skilled and highly qualified Faculty Members with a good number of skilled supporting staff in different categories, who take all challenges for achieving various goals.

We strongly believe in our motto of providing good facilities, which encourage quality education and academic excellence in every field. The Institute provides an extra edge to the students in this competitive world by developing overall personality. We believe that the knowledge is primary resource for the overall development of individual and society. We also believe in individual as well as general counseling of students and try to monitor the progress of each and every student. These efforts resulted into overall development of our students.

    Government of Madhya Pradesh awarded Our College “Pt. Udhav Das Mehta Vaidhya Shastri Ayurved Seva Samman Puruskar” for the outstanding Services and Incredible Achievements in the Field of Ayurved in the year 2016.
  • “Highest number of Normal labor cases”
    Department of Prasuti tantra & Strirog of have been performed approx. 100 normal labor cases monthly in Govt. Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru Memorial Ayurved Hospital, Rau. This is highest in Central India by Ayurved Hospital.
  • “Deaddiction and Rehabilitation Centre”
    Under the Department of Agad Tantra & Vyavharayurved Deaddiction and Rehabilitation Centre is established in College campus Hospital. This is first and only Rehabilitation centre run by an Ayurved College in Madhya Pradesh.
  • “Treatment of cancer wounds:”
    Collaboration with Government Cancer Hospital, Indore department of Shalya Tantra (surgery) successfully treated wounds of various Carcinomas with Ayurvedic medicines.
  • “Nodal Agency”
    Institute is working as nodal agency for National AYUSH Mission. Under this mission Institute developing three villages named Gawali Palasia, Rangwasa & Machal as AYUSH gram.

History

According to Hindu philosophy out of 84 lack yonis in this universe. Human (manav) is considered as the best among all for maintenance of healthy human life lord Brahma have gifted Ayurved before creating the Universe. In 1921 Brahmacharya Ashram Trust was established by Para Pujya swami Dwaraka Duttaji Maharaj in Indore : The Nagri of Maa Ahilya, Initially ayurveda course was run by this trust. In the year 1964 this course got affiliated to Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya Indore (M.P.) India and the degree course was started by the university. By the sincere effort of the staff and leaders of the state, the Madhya Pradesh Governmenttaken over this institution in the year 1972 and the institution named as Govt. Ashtang Ayurved College, Indore. In the year 1998, for better development it got the status of Autonomous from state govt., and named as Govt. Auto. Ashtang Ayurved College. It is situated at Lokmanya Nagar. which is just 5 Km away from the Main Bus Stand and Indore railway station, The college have a good infrastructure in its own 41⁄2 acres of premises. The college is proud to have a newly constructed state of the art Administrative building, Hospital (OPD) building, academic and departmental building, Pharmacy, Hostel, Library, herbal garden, sports, ground etc. This institution has completed its glorious 97 years in service of Ayurveda and the scholars passed out from this institution are rendering their Services to the public of different parts of the state and the country as well.

Autonomous Body

In the year 1997, this institute has been turned as an autonomous body by M.P. Government.

General Council (Sadharan Sabha)

Top governing body, The "Sadharan Sabha" is presided over by the Hon'ble Minister of AYUSH, Government of M.P. Bhopal and amongst other, the Principal Secretary, AYUSH Department and the Director of AYUSH (Department of Indian System of Medicine and Homoeopathy), M.P. are the hon'ble Members of the Society. The Principal of the College has been designed as member secretary and the Chief Executive Officer of the Institute.

Executive Committee ( Karyakarani Samiti)

The Executive Committee of the Institute is chaired by the Commissioner (Revenue) of Indore Division, The Secretary of the AYUSH Department and the Director of AYUSH (I.S.M. &H.) Department are also The Hon'ble Members of the Committee. The Principal of the college is member secretary to this committee.

Financial Committee (Vitta Samiti)

The financial committee of the institute is chaired by Principal of institute with the members of One person having experience in banking/finance to be nominated by the Executive Committee of the College for Period of two years, Two senior teachers of the College to be nominated in rotation by the Dean/principal for two years, Joint Director, Treasury of the concerned Revenue Division, Senior most Administrative officer of the member-Institution to be nominated by the Chairman Secretary.

Central Library

The Institute has a good and well maintained library in separate building with the area of 3000 sq. ft. Library having publications of various subjects on Ayurveda, Allopathy, Philosophy, Naturopathy, Yoga, Sanskrit, Fictions and science etc. Reading room facilities are also provided with capacity of 50 readers at a time for teachers and students where current and latest journals, magazines, bulletins, and leading national and local dailies are made available. Library has rich collection of approx. 10,000 books which annually updated with new latest publication. Journals and newspapers were subscribed for reading room and approx. 1000 back annual volumes of journals were available for reference and research purpose. Library has Book-bank scheme where more than 2000 books are available for distribution to SC/ST students of each class. Five books are landed to each student for study at his/her residence. Catalogue (List of books) are also available for students. The library remains open on all working days.

Library provide so many facilities like Photocopier for instant photocopies of reading material , Computers with internet connection, Fully Wi-Fi campus, CD, DVD's & online & offline e-books.

Library automation work is in progress for which Institute has got software and installed in computer. Data entry of library database is going on, Library also looking forward for e-library.

Mini Pharmacy

There is one mini pharmacy and Ras Shala situated in the campus, which is well equipped with modern pharmaceutical equipment. Different types of herbo mineral medicines are being prepared in this pharmacy by the expert staff of the Institution; students are also getting practical knowledge about the preparation of the medicines.

National Service Scheme (NSS)

NSS is an Indian government-sponsored public service program conducted by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports.

The N.S.S. Unit of college is functioning under the direct supervision of University, Indore. This is a voluntary association of young people in College and aimed at developing student's personality through community service,

The N.S.S. Unit of college is conducting different free health camps and other social service activities time to time

Sports

For the all rounded development of the students the sports wing of the institution is conducting different sports activities like Cricket, Volley ball, Badminton, Table Tennis, Chess, Kabbadi, Carom etc every year.

Harbal Garden

The herbal garden which is situated in the College Campus comprises of one acre of land. So many rare herbal plants, along with other useful Medicinal plants, are the credentials of the garden, where students of Ayurveda are getting practical knowledge about different medicinal plants. About 250 Plants of Ayurvedic Herbs are present in garden.

Govt. Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru Memorial Ayurved Hospital, Rau

Govt. Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru Memorial Ayurved Hospital, Rau is our main hospital which is located at A.B. Road, Rau. There is only Govt. hospital in the town i.e. run by Govt. Ashtang Ayurved College, Indore. This is a state of art Hospital which follows all standards and guidelines which are prescribed by Central Council of Indian Medicine, New Delhi & AYUSH Department, Government of Madhya Pradesh.

HIghlights

This is centrally located, easily accessible, well equipped and multiple storied building with 60 beds capacity.

  • All the OPD & IPD data is recorded & Maintained with the help of specialized computers & software to reduce consumption of paper and creating a Bio-Friendly Environment amongst Patients, Staff & Students.
  • Department wise 6 IPD & 8 OPD sections.
  • Various allopathic OPD are also available for patients.
  • Ayurvedic & Allopathic treatment administered simultaneously.

Govt. Ashtang Ayurved Hospital, Lokmanya Nagar, Indore

The Hospital is located at College campus. Presently it's shifted in newly constructed building of approx 20,000 sq. feet area. It was inaugurated by Hon'ble Shri Jalam Singhji, Minster of AYUSH, Govt. of Madhya Pradesh. Presently OPD facilities are available for patient & IPD facility will be started shortly. It will be biggest Ayurved Hospital (capacity of 100 beds) in the city.

  • Department of Shalakya Tantra perform Kriya kalpa procedures like tarpana, putpaka, seka ,aschyotana, anjana, pindi and vidalaka are being done in various eye related disorders. Kriya Kalpa is done in very common eye problems like myopia, hypermetropia, astigmatism, squint and for disorders like computer vision syndrome. Specific treatment for various retinal disorders like night blindness, glaucoma diabetic retinopathy etc is being provided in kriyakalpa with satisfactory results.

Admission Procedure

The students interested to take admission into B.A.M.S. course have to qualify the joint entrance test called NEET (National Eligibility Entrance Test) Conducted by agency authorized by Central Government, Which is usually conducted in the month ofJune-July every year.

The merit listed students from NEET can only be allowed to take part in the online counselling which is conducted by AYUSH Department, Govt. of M.P. through M.P. online for admission in this Institution. Total 75 numbers of seats are available in this Institution for B.A.M.S. Course.
